PAT Testing

PAT testing is a necessity for every type and size of business.

Employers are at liberty to ensure their staff work in a safe environment according to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

This means that electrical systems and electrical equipment must be kept to suitable standards, comply with statutory obligations and so must be checked regularly.

It’s really important to schedule regular risk assessments using a qualified professional testing engineer.

You can always rely on us to provide an excellent quality service.

PAT testing is one of the services that we undertake across the entire south east region using our own registered and qualified electricians.

It’s our job to visit your workplace and test all your electrical equipment, from fixed installations to portable units.

Frequently Asked Questions

Browse through our list below to get answers to frequently asked questions on this service:

Your ECMS PAT Testing engineer will carry out a visual inspection of all electrical appliances including wall plugs leads, fuses and flexes. Some equipment needs test signals injected into the cable and appliance, to check their integrity. We also check insulation resistance, earth continuity, polarity and earth leakage where required.

This refers to any equipment powered between 40 and 240 volts connected to electrical mains via a plug.

This depends on your own company’s risk assessment schedule but we recommend it once a year.

Once PAT Testing is complete, you will receive a detailed report giving you an inventory on each appliance type, where it is located and a description. You will also be given a list of test results for each appliance and if any fail inspection, a list and description of why and what needs to be done. We issue a PASS sticker for those that are approved and a FAIL sticker for those that do not pass the test with further action required information. Your business will also receive a date for your next PAT test.
