Frequently Asked Questions

Building Regulations apply to almost all building work. If you are undertaking construction work, extension work or alterations, we will make a building regulations application for you and keep you up to date with progress.

Planning permission is about deciding whether your building work might be problematic for other properties neighbouring your premises and the environment around you. Building Regulations are the standards involved in design and construction. They also including checking the builders’ and architect’s work to make sure the build is done safely and properly.

Unfortunately, this does sometimes happen and the chances are your plans did not meet the technical requirements of Building Regulations. In which case your local council will advise you on the reasons and you will have the chance to re-submit, which we can help with. If you still don’t get permission granted, you can appeal to the council.
