Frequently Asked Questions

Browse through our list below to get answers to frequently asked questions on this service:

You should carry out periodic checks including inspection and testing using a trained ECMS electrician. Inspections are dependent on level of risk for example; sometimes a simple visual inspection is sufficient. In environments when equipment is high-risk (for example, operated in a harsh environment) you might need to undertake more rigorous testing but your electrician will advise.

For a business, a periodic inspection should be carried out at least every five years.

According to law you must comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations which means that all of your electrical systems must be suitably maintained so they are safe. It is up to you, as a business owner or employer, to make sure that you take the right steps to perform due diligence using a trained electrician. Your electrician will carry out all testing required and provide documentation with information on testing and findings.
